Romania's Education Minister may be dismissed

Romanian Education Minister Remus Pricopie should get the textbook issue solved by early next week or face dismissal, Prime Minister Victor Ponta suggested according to government sources, RADIO ROMANIA reported on Thursday. Education officials failed to provide children of 6 and 7 with textbooks in compliance with the new syllabus. Printing was stopped as the bid was contested and another assessment procedure was currently underway.

Romanians should receive medical treatment abroad, CNAS says

Romanians should receive medical treatment abroad in compliance with EU regulations. Romania's National Health Insurance House (CNAS) said such rights could not be denied in another EU Member State on grounds Romania failed to pay its debts to another country. The announcement on Thursday came following press reports on CNAS's debts to medical institutions in other countries including Germany, Austria, Italy and France. CNAS debt in August hit over 210 euros, RADIO ROMANIA reported quoting CNAS sources.

Opening of Gaudeamus Textbook Fair in Bucharest

Organised by Radio Romania's Cultural Media Centre, the 12th edition of the Gaudeamus Textbook Fair opened in the Romanian capital Bucharest on Wednesday. For the second time in recent years, the fair is covering two pavilions in the capital's famous University Plaza, a place highly popular among people in the city. Between September 17 and 28, the fair is available between 10 AM and 8 PM. The 2014 edition of the Gaudeamus Textbook Fair stands 83 among exhibitions hosted by Romanian Broadcasting Corporation (SRR) in more than 20 years as part of Lectura (Reading) Programme.(RADOR News Agency)
