Bucharest authorities will develop a campaign to promote Romania as a safe tourist destination

Bucharest authorities want to develop, through the Department for SMEs and Tourism, a campaign to promote Romania as a tourist destination secure in the current geopolitical context. Although internationally there is a perception that Romania would be a safe destination, the Minister delegated for Tourism has stressed out the need for this campaign, so that foreigners, especially those from outside Europe, can understand that Romania is not affected by the conflict in neighboring Ukraine. In the first half of this year the number of foreign tourists in Romania increased by over 10 percent. Two international organizations have chosen to organize their meetings, this autumn, in Romania; the European Travel Commission and the World Tourism Organization.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will attend the Summer University in Bǎile Tușnad resort

The Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will be present, tomorrow, at the Summer University in Bǎile Tușnad resort, Harghita county. The event, organized by the Pro Minority Foundation in Hungary and the Hungarian Youth Council in Romania is at its 25th edition. The Press Office of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has announced, today, that Mr Orbán will be, tomorrow, at the Summer University and "Tusványos" Student Camp in Bǎile Tușnad resort. The Hungarian Prime Minister will deliver a speech at the Summer University and he will have together with the Deputy Prime Minister, Zsolt Semjén, and meetings with leaders of the Hungarian community to tackle current national policy aspects.

Loans for companies and population rose in June by over 600 million lei

Total loans in lei for companies and population rose in June by over 600 million lei, exceeding 90 billion and a half lei, according to the data released today by the National Bank of Romania. Foreign currency loans, however, continued their downward trend, but are still prevailing, their total value, expressed in lei, exceeding 126 billion lei, last month. Total loans to the population, in foreign and national currency, amounted to nearly 101 billion 650 million lei, most of which being consumer loans followed by real estate. Arrears on loans last month recorded a value of about 31.3 billion lei, lower than in May, when they were estimated at 33 billion lei.

Drivers transporting hitchhikers could get fines between 1000 and 5000 lei

The drivers transporting hitchhikers could be fined from 1,000 to 5,000 lei according to a draft law, put again to public debate by the Ministry of Transport. The authorities have explained that the initiative is not intended to prohibit the occasional transport, but intends to punish the private carriers organized on commuter routes that may be a real risk for passengers.
