Prime Minister Victor Ponta welcomed the re-election of Martin Schulz

The German social-democrat Martin Schulz was elected today President of the European Parliament, in the first round. The populars and the social-democrats will hold office for two and a half years and the European Parliament presidency will return to the the european people group, in January 2017. In a posting on his Facebook account, Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta welcomed the re-election of Martin Schulz and said that he has a great confidence in him because he has supported Romania in the European Union.

NSA received a judicial warrant to intercept communications in 193 countries, including Romania

In 2010 the American National Security Agency (NSA) received a judicial warrant to intercept communications in 193 countries, including Romania. The mandate allowed gathering information about international organizations, such as World Bank (WB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Union (EU) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The Washington Post newspaper, which published the information, presents a photocopy of an official document secret, provided by the former NSA consultant, Edward Snowden, now a refugee in Russia. Washington Post also writes that the American National Security Agency had no official reaction.

July 1st brought a number of changes in utility tariffs paid by the population

July 1st brought a number of changes in utility tariffs paid by the population: gas prices increased, on average, by 2.5%, instead the one for electricity decreased by 2.6 percent. The gross minimum wage increased to 900 lei and also the road fine point, calculated according to this indicator. Also starting July 1st the roaming charges were significantly reduced by up to 55% and disappeared, through elimination or merging, 92 charges, or tariffs of non-fiscal nature.
