Romanian-Belgian meeting at the level of Foreign Ministers

Political and economic collaboration between Romania and Belgium and international aspects of present interest will be discussed on Tuesday by Romanian Foreign Minister, Titus Corlatean and his Belgian counterpart, Didier Reynders. According to a press release, a special attention will be paid to the institutional developments as a result of the European Parliament elections, to the issues regarding the situation in European Union's eastern neighborhood, focusing on Ukraine and Moldova and to the situation in the Balkans. Besides the position of foreign minister, Didier Reynders has, too, other responsibilities in the Government of Belgium. He is also deputy prime minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and European Affairs. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Army modernization was the topic of discussions between Mircea Dusa and Claude France Arnauld

Procurement programs and modernization of the Romanian Army, in the context of military-political situation and the crisis in Ukraine was the topic of discussions between Romanian Minister of Defense, Mircea Dusa and the chief executive of the European Defence Agency, Claude France Arnauld. Romanian Minister said that the Government pays a great importance to this domain. Mircea Dusa stressed that the discussions were also focused on the defense industry in Romania. In turn, Claude France Arnauld said that "we want to rely on a strong defense industry involving all member states, which is why we need strong member states. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Romania has significant energy resources, especially natural gas resources

Romania has significant energy resources, especially natural gas resources and plays a geostrategic role, being interconnected to the gas transmission networks with Austria and Hungary, says Mark van Stiphout, representative of the European Commissioner for Energy, Günther Ottinger. According to the European official, the European Commission considers that Romania can play a very important role in fostering regional cooperation and through opening the energy market. The statements were made on Romania Day of Energy, organized by Romanian Energy Center in the Belgian capital. The meeting was also attended by representatives of large companies in the energy sector in Romania and Secretary of State in the Ministry of Energy, Károly Borbély. He announced that upgrading Romania's energy strategy will be completed this autumn. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
