Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, claims that NATO must intensify its joint exercises and to focus them on collective defense, in order to increase NATO's responsiveness, said Romanian Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, during an allied defence ministers meeting. In preparation for the summit due in early September, the stage of development of defense capabilities was assessed during this meeting and the commitment to implement the package of measures was reconfirmed in the context of Ukrainian crisis. According to a press release from the Ministry of Defence in Bucharest, Mircea Dusa stressed, in this context, that Romania is ready to make its own contribution to the transformation of the Alliance, confirming "the national decision to strengthen policy and the allied agreement regarding target of 2% of GDP on defense, so that we can achieve this level from 2017". The American cruiser USS Vella Gulf arrived in the port of Constanta

The American cruiser USS Vella Gulf arrived, yesterday in Constanta port, where it will remain until Friday. With a length of about 180 meters and with nearly 400 people on board, the cruiser will participate in several exercises, together with NATO allies. Tomorrow, the vessel will be visited by the American Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and his Romanian counterpart, Mircea Dusa. This is the fourth American warship which arrives in Romanian teritorial waters since the crisis in Ukraine began. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Romania has one of the most powerful and advanced veterinary services in Europe and the Romanian food products are among the safest in the European Union. The statement was made by the president of the National Sanitary Veterinary Authority, Vladimir Manastireanu, during thje conference to mark 10 years since this body was created. In context, he stressed that the National Sanitary Veterinary Authority managed to dismantle all the unfounded accusations brought against Romania in food scandals. One of the authority's goals was unlocking EU meat export market and opening new markets for Romanian food products. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
