Klaus Johannis considers running for the Presidency of Romania

The newly appointed interim leader of the National Liberal Party, Klaus Johannis, is considering the possibility of running for the presidential office. He has said he will enter the election race if the party asks him to do so. Johannis has added that he sent an invitation to the regional organizations to examine his possible candidacy, which, later, will be validated by the Extraordinary Congress of the Liberals, which will take place later this month.

Defense Minister Mircea Dusa attends NATO meeting

NATO defense ministers will discuss, for the first time the effects of long-term security of Russia's actions in Ukraine and the way the allies should respond. The annexation of Crimea by Russia has severely damaged NATO's relationships with Moscow, and the ministers will make fundamental decisions about Russia which will be presented to NATO leaders at their meeting in September. Defense Minister Mircea Dusa participates in the two days talks, and has scheduled meetings with his counterparts from Germany and Canada.

Parliament has began the procedure for replacing members of the Board of Directors of the Public Radio

The Romanian Parliament has began the procedure for replacing members of the Board of Directors of the Public Radio, whose terms expire by the end of this month. The Standing Bureaus of the Senate and Chamber of Deputies have decided, today, that next week, on Tuesday, June 10th , to hear, in the Senate Committee on Culture, the persons proposed, and the same day the plenary session will validate the endorsement by the committee. The proposals for the Board of Directors of the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Company are made by the parliamentarian groups for eight seats, the Presidency, the Government and minority groups to one seat and by the Radio Romania employees for two seats.
