The first electric train manufactured in Romania circulated between Craiova and Bucharest. Made by Softronic Craiova, "Hyperion" is a Romanian concept train, the newest European product of this type and the company in Craiova is the only one in Eastern Europe that produces such an electric frame. Prime Minister Victor Ponta, accompanied by several members of the government, travelled on the first journey of the train and said that this is the proof that Romania can create quality stuff, but the railway structure should be improved. The train was made available for the Romanian National Railway Company and it will enter into circulation on June 1st on Craiova - Bucharest route, three times a week, under InterRegio regime. The Pentagon confirmed the visit to Romania of the American Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel. He will start a diplomatic tour, next week, during which mister Hagel will meet with NATO defense ministers for discussions precursory to the Alliance summit, which will take place in September, in Wales. This is the first meeting of defense ministers since the crisis in Ukraine, which will be considered during the discussions. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

The short film "It Can Pass Through the Wall" won a special jury mention, at Cannes Film Festival

Romania’s only contestant in the Cannes Film Festival this year, the short film "It Can Pass Through the Wall", directed by Radu Jude, emerged a winner with a special jury mention in the "Quinzane des Réalisateurs" section of the festival for the variety of expression. "It Can Pass Through the Wall" is a free adaptation after a Chekhov novel and a hundred percent independent production. Radu Jude won numerous awards for his films, such as "The Lamp With the Hat", "The Happiest Girl in the World" and "Everybody in our family". (RADIO ROMANIA reports).
