Romania sent humanitarian aid for flood victims in Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina

Danube continues to grow, and in Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina and a flood is expected any time on the River Sava. Authorities say that these are the worst floods in the last century and they affected more than 1.6 million people untill now, causing 51 deaths. International humanitarian aid continues to arrive in the two countries. Romania has sent a convoy of strictly necessary humanitarian products - mainly water and food - from the state reserve. Six trucks loaded with 100 tons of mineral water, food and body linen left Romania heading to Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. The humanitarian convoy, formed of four trucks loaded with canned food and body linen, which started from Bucharest, made the junction with other two trucks, loaded with 36 tonnes of mineral water, in Turnu Severin. Romania participates in a military exercise along with other NATO forces, in Germany

More than 4,500 soldiers from 15 NATO countries, or partners of the Alliance, among which Romania, participate in this period in a large military exercise, in Germany, "Combined Resolve II". The deployment includes tanks, artillery, motorized infantry and aviation. The exercise was planned long before the crisis in Ukraine, but it was subsequently included in a package created by NATO allies to give them assurances that they will be protected. Romania has one of the most important contingents, both in terms of the number of military, 300, and the equipment used by them. For the first time since World War II, tanks were sent abroad. The North Atlantic Alliance aims to reassure allies that if needed they will be defended and Article 5 of the Washington Treaty will be applied, which states that an attack on one member state is an attack against all. Romanian Foreign Ministry informs its citizens that the central and eastern Croatia is affected by heavy floods

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs Romanian citizens who are, or travel to Croatia that the central and eastern areas of thIS country are affected by heavy floods. The worst situation is in border region with Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the river Sava, several border crossing points are closed. Ilok border crossing point, between Croatia and Serbia, is also closed until June 10th, due to rehabilitation works. (RADIO ROMANIA reports).
