16 medicines for rare diseases will be included on the list of compensated drugs

16 medicines for rare diseases will be included on the list of compensated drugs, according to a Ministry of Health project that will be discussed today at the meeting of the Government. The Health Minister, Nicholae Banicioiu has explained that the measure is necessary because the value of the compensated medicines list is not yet finished, and the lives of those with rare diseases should not be jeopardized. This list has not been updated since 2008, and currently there is a considerable gap between the treatments available for patients in other European countries and the Romanian ones.
