Romanian-American joint military exercises in Suceava

Romanian soldiers from 17 Mountain Troops Battalion and American marines participate in joint training, until May 16, in Rotunda polygon and Vatra Dornei garrison, Suceava county. The training includ tactical exercises with firings, ground tactical training, first aid training in areas of operations and alpine training. (RADIO ROMANIA reports.)

President Traian Basescu says that there is a need for further state reform

President Traian Basescu says that there is a need for further state reform, while the confidence in its institutions decreased. He reasoned that by the fact that the most respected institutions are those which were reformed, like National Anticorruption Directorate, Romanian Intelligence Service, or Foreign Intelligence Service. Traian Basescu also spoke about the losses in public health service, which remained unreformed. (RADIO ROMANIA reports.)

Romanian representatives were ranked 12th at Eurovision Song Contest

Conchita Wurst of Austria won the Eurovision Song Contest held in Copenhagen. Romanian representatives, Paula Seling and Ovi, were ranked 12th. Representatives from 26 European countries performed at the 59th edition of the Eurovision. Romania has ended the contest in the first half of the standings, with 72 points. The song "Miracle", sang Paula Seling and Ovi, obtained the maximum score from the Republic of Moldova. Romania's best performance in this competition were twice 3rd place - Luminita Anghel and System in 2005 and Paula Seling and Ovi in 2010 and once 4th - Michael Traistariu, in 2006.
