Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs meets several Romanian leaders

Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Hoyt Yee, is in the Romanian capital today for a routine visit to the region, United States Embassy in Bucharest informed. The American diplomat will meet with various Romanian leaders, to discuss issues related to bilateral relations and the strategic partnership between the two countries. Romanian politicians with whom Hoyt Yee will meet were not specified. According to an exclusive information received from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the American official met with Secretary of State for Strategic Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Prime Minister Victor Ponta said that Romania should stand beside Chisinau

Prime Minister Victor Ponta said that, as Vice President of the Supreme Council of National Defence and amid the the crisis in Ukraine, he will require, at the first meeting, an assessment of all institutions responsible for security issues, including from the perspective of Republic of Moldova. Present in Sculeni together with his Moldovan counterpart, Iurie Leanca, to mark the abolition of visas for Moldovan citizens, Prime Minister Victor Ponta said that Romania should stand beside Chisinau, not only from the economic point of view, but from the the safety point of view, too. Romanian Foreign Minister, Titus Corlatean, attended a conference on Europe at the Atlantic Council, in Washington, where he had a brief discussion with the American Secretary of State, John Kerry, about the situation in the region and about the Republic of Moldova. In an interview with Radio Romania News, Romanian top diplomat said that our country clearly supports the adoption of sanctions against Moscow because of the situation in Ukraine and that he called for a permanent military presence of the allied troops in Romania. "Our position has been consistent, clear and very engaged", said Titus Corlatean. "We must keep our credibility at the Union level and to examine, to adopt further necessary sanctions.
