April 29th - War Veterans Day

Ceremonies have been held today to mark the War Veterans Day across the country. In Bucharest, the Defense Minister Mircea Dusa, has laid, this morning, a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and urged the Romanian soldiers to fight in memory of their heroes and defend the security of their country. In Romania, currently, there are almost 35,000 veterans and invalids of the Second World War, compared with 900,000 people registered nearly a quarter of century ago, when the National Association of War Veterans was founded.

Banks in Romania expect to intensify lending in the coming period

Over 80 percent of banks in Romania are expecting to intensify lending in the coming period, as the latest banking barometer indicates. In the service area, most banks expect an increase in demand for credit cards and loans to physical entities. The lending policies will ease in industry, IT, agriculture, telecom, healthcare and SME’s segment. On the other hand, the legal framework for insolvency and the way it is enforced are discouraging lending, as over 85 percent of respondent banks believe.

National Agency for Employment announces vacancies

More than 16,000 jobs are vacant nationwide, most of them for people with secondary education and vocational training, according to the National Agency for Employment. Most of jobs are in Bucharest and in counties of Cluj, Prahova and Dolj. For people with higher education there are only 1,400 jobs, mainly in the IT and finance areas. Statistics show that in March there were over 500,000 registered unemployed. Half of them were between 30 and 49 years, and three quarters do not have even high school education.
