Government will increase the budget of the Ministry of Defense

The Romanian Government will increase the budget of the Ministry of Defense, in the wake of the crisis in Ukraine. It has obtained the consent by the IMF and the European Commission for taking this measure, that will increase the budget deficit - Prime Minister Victor Ponta has announced. Victor Ponta: We will supplement by 0.2 percent from the GDP, this year around 700 million lei will be the budget of the Ministry of Defense, so that the investments in upgrading military capabilities are made immediately. What is important is that on the one hand, the Romanian military will have improved technological equipment, and on the other hand, these works will be carried out, mainly, in factories in Romania, which means activity for the Romanian economy and military industry.

Romania welcomes the lifting of visas for Moldovan citizens and restates its support for the European course of this country, especially in the context of tensions in Ukraine.
