Parliament has marked 10 years since Romania"s joining NATO

The Romanian Parliament has met in solemn session to mark 10 years since Romania joined NATO and the 65th anniversary of the establishment of this body. President Traian Basescu, Prime Minister Victor Ponta, members of the Government, former heads of state and government and former foreign ministers and defense ministers, other officials, academics and family members of the Romanian soldiers who died during NATO operations. The national anthem was played at the opening of the ceremony and a minute of silence was observed in the memory of those killed in military missions.

Gas, fuel and cigarettes are becoming more expensive from April 1st

The price of gas for household consumers is increased by 2 percent starting today. Also the cigarettes price is by 50 bani higher. This morning, most of the oil companies have increased prices for all kind of fuels, but there are also exceptions. The main fuel company in Romania has displayed prices exceeding 6 lei, both for one liter of petrol and diesel. Today, the phone calls have become cheaper by lowering interconnection rates.

The government wants to find a development solution for Oltchim plant

The Minister of Economy, Constantin Nita, has conveyed, today, to the employees of Oltchim plant that the Government is looking for a solution to development de plant and not its closure. He has emphasized the strategic role that the company plays in the Romanian economy and has said that steps for the integrated operation of Oltchim jointly with Arpechim refinery are in an advanced stage. According to the government opinion, the necessary fund is estimated at 15 million euros. The company’s management has presented a plan for the payment of salary arrears to the employees who receive monthly salaries with a historical delay of about two months.
