President Traian Basescu asks again Prime Minister to give up the introduction of excise duty on fuel

President Traian Basescu asks again Prime Minister to give up the introduction, starting April 1st 2014, of excise duty on fuel. The President said in an open letter that by this measure a too high and unnecessary pressure will be put on economic environment and also on the individual consumer. The effects of this increase, with 42 bani per liter of petrol and gas, will result in a price increase that will generate inflation, as well as a reduction in the consumption - it is specified in the letter. Increasing excise with 7 eurocents would only stifle a future development of the agricultural sector, especially if weather conditions are not as favorable as in the previous year, also said Traian Basescu in the letter sent to Prime Minister.
